Every friend group seems to have one.
The person who always has a joke ready. The one sending ridiculous videos at midnight or making everyone laugh when things get awkward.
Sometimes that person is also carrying things nobody knows about.
One teen could make an entire lunch table laugh without even trying. Friends assumed everything was great because they always seemed happy. What nobody saw were the quiet moments afterward, when home felt stressful and being funny didn’t make those feelings disappear.
People don’t always look like they’re struggling.
Sometimes humor is simply someone’s personality. Other times, it can also be a way to get through difficult moments or keep people from asking what’s really going on.
That’s why checking in with friends matters, even the ones who seem like they’re doing great.
It doesn’t have to turn into a huge conversation. Sometimes a genuine “How are you really doing?” is enough to let someone know there’s space to talk.
The funny friend needs someone to check on them too.
Everyone deserves people who care about what’s happening behind the smile.
